(Best Syndication) Pinon Hills CA – We attended the May 2008 Pinon Hills Municipal Advisory Council (MAC) meeting on Thursday where various topics were discussed including roads and flood control. We learned that Sergeant Copley has retired and we met the new Sergeant in charge of the Phelan station. Reggie Adams (father of MAC member Mike Adams) made a couple great suggestions. First off he recommended that the fire department carry extra parts on their trucks for the fire hydrants. Reggie mentioned that thieves stole valuable metal parts off the fire-plugs in Hesperia and the fire department was unable to extinguish a fire. Reggie was also concerned the horrible collisions that occur on Highway 138. He suggested that the California Highway Patrol (CHP) use their retired vehicles as way to slow down traffic on the highway. He recommended a couple cars be parked along the road to fool drivers into slowing down. There were no representatives from the fire department or the CHP to respond to his suggestions. Sheriff Copley has retired as our local commander of the Phelan Station. Lieutenant Mike Stansell introduced us to Copley’s replacement, Sergeant Scott Peterson. Peterson fielded some questions and there was a discussion about metal thievery. MAC member, Don Hatter, suggested photos be taken of people who sell metal to the scrap yards.
