'Better late than never' - the words of Lewis Hamilton after he sensationally out-qualified the Ferraris of Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa to claim his sixth pole position of the season, for the China Grand Prix on Sunday 7 October 2007. Hamilton was only fourth fastest after the first two qualifying rounds, as the Ferraris set the pace on the Shanghai circuit. But in a dramatic turnaround, the 22-year-old Briton produced a blistering lap in final qualifying, to edge ahead of Raikkonen by just over one tenth of a second. Massa will start from the second row of the grid in third place, alongside Fernando Alonso in fourth.
