A host of A-list celebrities graced the red carpet for the opening of the world's most expensive hotel. The party at the Atlantis, The Palm resort in Dubai is reported to have cost £15 million and is said to feature the world's largest fireworks display. Celebrities attending the lavish event included Charlize Theron, Duchess of York, Lindsay Lohan, Mary-Kate Olsen, Janet Jackson, Lily Allen, Mischa Barton, Matthew Williamson, Gerard Butler, Michael Jordan and many more. Pop princess Kylie, who performed at the bash, is rumoured to have been paid somewhere in the region of £2 million. The Australian star belted out hits On A Night Like This and I Should Be So Lucky. Guests dined on signature dishes prepared by Atlantis' multi Michelin-starred chefs, Santi Santamaria, Michel Rostang, Giorgio Locatelli and Nobu Matsuhisa, before heading to the Royal Afterglow party with Lohan's girlfriend, DJ Sam Ronson. Owned by South African billionaire Sol Kerzner, Atlantis, The Palm is a 1,539-room, ocean-themed resort situated on the man-made, palm-shaped island of Palm Jumeirah. It features more than 1,500 rooms and is an ocean-themed destination resort located at the centre of the crescent of the man-made Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. It is made up of 17 hectares of water park amusement, including an aquarium and dolphin park, spa's, bars, clubs, shopping centres, restaurants and many other attractions.
