José Daniel Ortega Saavedra President of Nicaragua in Tehran: Iranian and Nicaraguan presidents here on Sunday stressed the need for accelerated cooperation among free and independent world countries as the only way to confront hegemonic powers. Speaking during the first round of talks between the two countries' high-ranking delegations, Ahmadinejad and Ortega noted the common views shared by the two states' officials and the ample potentials existing on both sides, and reiterated the need for the development of Tehran-Managua relations and cooperation in different fields, according to FNA. The two presidents also underlined the necessity for the maintenance of the two nations' revolutionary spirit and proper use of natural and God-gifted resources in the reconstruction process. They also pointed to investment, supply of electricity and energy, agriculture, animal husbandry, fishery, construction of ports and power plants as among the grounds that are available for the development and expansion of ties between Iran and Nicaragua. Ahmadinejad and Ortega further pointed to the efforts made by the big powers to exploit nations, and stressed that independent countries can lay the required foundations for progress and provide their nations with welfare through exchanging experiences and achievements in the various sectors. They referred to the significant role of regional and international treaties in world equations, and underscored, "Acceleration of cooperation among free and independent countries in the form of regional and international treaties and organizations, including the group of Alba, is the way to confront hegemonic powers." Also during the meeting, the Iranian president noted Iran's achievements in such different areas as dam and power plant construction and agriculture, and reiterated that the Islamic Republic perceives no restriction for transferring its up-to-date experiences and knowledge to Nicaragua. He further voiced Tehran's preparedness to boost cooperation with Nicaragua in various grounds. Also reminding Iran's good status in production of agricultural and animal husbandry machineries, Ahmadinejad stated Tehran's readiness to provide the Nicaraguan farmers with the required training in a bid to help increase the level of welfare and income of the people of that country. He also said Iran is ready to transfer its achievements in the fields of trade, port construction, fishery and fish farming to Nicaragua. The Iranian president reminded that construction and prosperity of any given country requires struggle, patience and resistance, and mentioned that the Nicaraguan government can pave the way for the progress and welfare of Nicaraguans through its activities and measures. For his part, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega pointed to the ample grounds residing for investment in his country, and said that his country prioritizes Iranian investors' partnership in projects in grounds of energy, tourism, agriculture, animal husbandry and industry. He further pointed to his country's dire need in electricity, and said that Iran's decisiveness to construct power plants in that country is the best news for the Nicaraguan nation. Ortega also called for the growing use of Iran's valuable experiences and achievements in grounds of power plant construction and power supply. Also reminding that over 40% of Nicaraguan population resides in rural areas, he viewed agriculture, animal husbandry and food reprocessing industries as some of other areas existing for the activity of Iranian investors in Nicaragua.
