Eco polar station

Eco polar station

The Belgium government has funded the setting up of the Princess Elisabeth station through the International Polar Foundation. Acting as a technological showcase and a launch pad for the wider understanding of climate mechanisms, the base will be the first to minimise its carbon footprint on the Antarctic by using renewable energy resources and eco-construction principles. The development and construction process will itself educate and inform research in polar regions, on climate change and sustainable development.
